So I’ve decided that foursquare is a little rediculous. At least, for me. It’s made me realize that I go multiple weeks and barely leave my own zipcode (40503 reprazent!) I think I’m only going to check in if I’m somewhere “interesting”. The problem is, if I don’t check in frequently, i’ll forget to do it at all. So I will probably just stop. Foursquare is definitely for people with more interesting lives than mine.

2006 – April pregnant, excellent Bonnaroo line up. Can’t go (just ask April).
2007 – Couldn’t care about the Bonnaroo line up.
2008 – Couldn’t care about the Bonnaroo line up.
2009 – April pregnant, excellent Bonnaroo line up. WTF?!?!
Apparently April’s baby makin’ parts have the magic jujubes for the Bonnaroo folks. I am so angry at god right now.
or “Don’t Fly United”
I’ve had this floating around in my head for a while, but have been to busy to commit it to blog. If I don’t do it now, I’ll forget it
I was lucky enough to con my way into attending the InTouch Health “Remote Presence Clinical Inovations Forum.” That sounds fancier that it is – InTouch makes “robots” that we use in our hospitals, and I did a lot of the work getting them connected. They couldn’t find a doctor to go, so I talked them in to paying for me to go out there. (Ain’t I a stinker?)
So we left on a Thursday, and were returning the following Sunday. We were going from Lexington to O’Hare, then LAX and finally Santa Barbara. The flight from Lexington to Chicago was uneventful. We got a a little food in Chicago, and got on the plane.
We boarded the flight to LAX and settled in. While sitting there waiting for the plane to pull back, I swear I saw a baggage hander doing yoga in the empty hold of the plane beside me. It went on for quite a while and I couldn’t figure out what he was doing – by the time I had my phone out to take a picture, he stood up out of a downward dog and walked out. Seriously, one of the coolest and strangest things I’ve seen at the same time.
We were told that there was a maintenance issue with the air conditioner that was being fixed. It was getting pretty damn hot, and we’d probably been sitting there for about 45 minutes. Eventually we were told that we needed extra fuel because there was a “low cloud ceiling” at LAX. After about an hour and a half on the plane, we pulled back from the gate. We rolled around the tarmac a bit, and eventually started heading back towards the gate. Turns out that the co-pilot had was going to hit his maximum in-flight hours if he stayed on the plane, so they were looking for a new crew. Needless to say, this didn’t do much for the mood on our plane full of sweaty people. After a few more moments they told us the flight was canceled. Thank the Baby Jesus that I had just gotten an iPhone. I was able to get on the United website to get their reservations number, and I was already booked on a new flight before I got off the plane.
The unfortunate thing is that the only way to get to Santa Barbara was to go to Orange County, then San Francisco, THEN Santa Barbara (and flying over SB between the OC and Frisco). Los Angeles is one place that I was never interested in visiting, so I wasn’t terribly upset. I was going to breifly see San Francisco, but it meant being in airports from 10am until 1am.
This day of frustration had one really awesome moment (apart from the yoga). Flying into San Francisco was awesome – an amazing view. Taking off from San Francisco at sunset was almost religious. There’s little point in me trying to put it into words. Watching the planes come in on approach, seeing all the boats and the sun setting over the Pacific.. just beautiful. It was the one zen moment in a very stressful day.
I’ll refrain from going into detail about the whole weekend and conference. I’ll just say that it was awesome seeing Jacob, and Santa Barbara is absolutely gorgeous. If you take one thing away from this post: avoid United (unless you want to sit on a hot plane for two hours).

Well well see how this works. I already tried blogging from Word once, but now Word 2007 Beta has built in support. Fairly nifty.
I know posts have been infrequent, but maybe this will make blogging easier. I never liked w.bloggar that much, and I know word will auto-save.

Just don’t feel like blogging today. The work is being piled on. Shit-tay.
I love those weird little random instant messages that are waiting for me when I get back to my computer. Dunno what prompted this. Only think I can guess is this blog.
(20:47:53) SpIk3daMan: wow can you be any more boring
(20:47:53) silent : Sorry, I ran out for a bit!
(22:18:54) silent: who the fuck are you?
(22:18:55) Unable to send message: Not logged in
At least have the balls to stay around and wait for a reply. Oh well. Splk3daMan, if you’re out there, READ A DIFFERENT BLOG. This is not for you. It’s purley for me. In fact, you’re not allowed to read it any more. So kiss my hairy bean bag.
By the way, my new computer is the shiz-nickety-it. What do you have to say to that, Mr. Splk3daMan?
this site is hosted for free. that’s probably apparent from the constant, unexpected periods of downtime. i was able to actually sit down infront of it and do a little work, so i installed a new kernel to try to address occasional lockups. the situation should be a little more stable, so hopefully there will be some improvement. at one point after reboots a VERY strange login prompt came up that looked suspicously like a keystroke logger. so the server may be hacked, but there’s not very much valuable info to steal. i couldn’t find any immediate evidence of new accounts, but i haven’t looked too hard. i will investigate further when i have the time. hopefully i’m not serving out the newest warez, although there’s only 14 gigs of HD space total. hey, SCSI drives were expensive when i built the damn thing. last i checked, they still are.
*drumroll*
here are the much anticipated screenshots from world of warcraft…
** deleted ** (sorry)
hell yeah. big pimpin. lots of people are getting very pissed about some of the “situations” happening in the game. some of the fuller servers are going down a little too much, and retail copies are nowhere to be found. i have four friends that want to start playing, and they can’t because blizzard won’t release more copies until the servers are fixed. i guess that’s a good thing. in the mean time, i’ll just keep leveling up my elf.
well, this weekend was about as uneventful as it could be. chilled on saturday with some folks from vocare and watched garden state. i really liked it. i’ll probably buy it. just a good movie. really up my alley.
anywho, don’t feel like writing any more.
oye como va.
